They are proprietary, expensive, and not secure enough for the Autonomous Era, while being challenged in their ability to provide hardware agnostic single-pane-of-glass configuration and management. Furthermore, management of such networks is manual, tedious, and therefore error prone.

While such offerings served well in yesterday’s world, they were never designed for the autonomous era that is now upon us.
